Proof in the Field

UniFi Access in a Live Nashville Buildout

When the Single Malt cigar bar in Nashville needed its low-voltage buildout finished before grand opening, we deployed a Ubiquiti door controller to secure the members-only VIP room — backed by our 24/7 support so ownership can add a new VIP member with a single phone call.

The same project included a predictive Wi-Fi survey and three enterprise access points for full-facility coverage, tied into the network. It is a working example of the UniFi approach: door access and wireless on one console, in ahead of grand opening, and we still manage it week to week. We answer the phone.

How It Works

Our Installation Process

Four steps, every job — survey, design, cable, configure. Doing them in that order is why it works the first time instead of the third.

01

Site Assessment & Wi-Fi Survey

We walk the facility, map coverage dead zones and wall construction, count devices and controlled doors, and review your internet handoff to size the UniFi gear correctly.

02

Network & Access Design

We select gateways, switches, Wi-Fi 6/7 APs, and UniFi Access hardware, then plan VLANs, guest portals, door hardware, and every Cat6 home-run.

03

Cabling & Hardware Install

We pull and terminate Cat6 to each AP and switch, cable every door back to its hub, dress the rack, and mount gateways, switches, UA Hub, readers, strikes, and REX devices.

04

Console Setup & Handoff

We configure VLANs, firewall rules, guest portals, and Wi-Fi tuning, enroll access credentials, set up remote alerts, and train your team on the dashboard.

Industries We Serve

Common Use Cases

Here's where we put UniFi to work most in Middle Tennessee — offices, restaurants, retail, warehouses, and churches. Different buildings, same one-console stack.

Corporate Offices

Segmented VLANs for staff, guests, and devices, managed Wi-Fi across every floor, and UniFi Access on suite and server-room doors — ideal for corporate office environments run from one console.

Restaurants & Bars

Reliable Wi-Fi for POS and staff plus a separate guest network, with UniFi Access securing back-of-house and office doors. Well suited to restaurants that cannot afford network downtime during service.

Retail Stores

Guest Wi-Fi, PCI-minded VLAN segmentation, and controlled stockroom access for retail stores — all managed remotely across every location from a single dashboard.

Property Management (Multi-Site)

Manage Wi-Fi and door access across multiple Nashville-area managed properties from one UniFi console, adding or revoking credentials without visiting each site.

Industrial & Warehouse

High-density Wi-Fi 6/7 for handhelds and IoT gear, plus UniFi Access on dock and restricted-area doors at industrial and warehouse facilities.

Houses of Worship

Guest and staff wireless across the campus with scheduled UniFi Access on offices, classrooms, and entries for churches and worship facilities — simple enough for volunteers to manage.

FAQ

UniFi Installation Questions

Do you install UniFi networks in Nashville?
Yes. ICTAlly designs and installs full Ubiquiti UniFi networks for commercial sites across Nashville and Middle Tennessee — UniFi gateways, switches, and access points, plus VLAN segmentation and guest portals. We pull Cat6 to every device, mount and dress the rack, and configure the UniFi console end to end.
Can UniFi run both my Wi-Fi and my door access?
Yes — that is the main reason businesses pick it. UniFi network and UniFi Access are managed from the same UniFi console, so your Wi-Fi, switching, and door control all live in one interface instead of three separate vendor portals. It keeps day-to-day management simple for staff who are not full-time IT.
Does UniFi support Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 7?
Yes. We design coverage around current UniFi Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 7 access points, sized to your square footage, wall construction, and device density. Higher-capacity APs matter most in offices, restaurants, and warehouses where dozens of phones, laptops, and handhelds compete for the same airspace.
How does UniFi Access door control work?
UniFi Access runs on the UA Hub — a self-contained door controller, so there is no third-party panel or on-site server to maintain. We install the hub, UA readers, electric strikes or maglocks, and request-to-exit hardware, then cable each door back to the hub. Staff unlock with a card, fob, PIN, or their phone, and you add or revoke credentials from the console.
Are there monthly license or subscription fees for UniFi?
No. UniFi has no per-device licensing, so you own the hardware and manage it yourself with no recurring software fee — a real cost advantage over subscription-based platforms. If you would rather not manage it, our $125/month managed network plan layers monitoring, updates, and support on top.
Can you manage UniFi across multiple locations?
Yes. UniFi consolidates every site under one console, so a business with several buildings or storefronts manages all of them from a single dashboard. We set up remote access and alerts so you — and our team, if you are on a managed plan — can see and fix issues without driving to each location.
Is UniFi the right fit for my business, or do I need something bigger?
UniFi is an excellent fit for small and mid-size commercial sites that want enterprise features — VLANs, guest networks, managed Wi-Fi, and door access — without license fees. For large enterprise or high-compliance environments, we will steer you to an open-Mercury access platform like Genetec or LenelS2 instead. We install both and match the platform to the building rather than forcing one product on every job.
Can UniFi Protect cameras be part of the same system?
Yes, where a UniFi-native video stack fits the site. UniFi Protect cameras run on the same console as your network and door access, which keeps a smaller commercial job clean and unified. For sites that need advanced analytics or license plate recognition, we install dedicated surveillance platforms like Avigilon instead — we will recommend the right camera system for the use case.
