What We Provide

What Does a Commercial Elevator Phone Project Include?

ICTAlly installs the elevator phone when the building needs one. Cellular dial tone includes a required 4-hour battery backup. Monitoring for the elevator phone is through a partnered monitoring service. POTS copper lines are getting expensive and are slowly being transitioned out. The work is commercial only, for buildings in Middle Tennessee and Kentucky. Desk phones, conference rooms, and paging stay on VoIP phone systems and telecommunications. POTS Replacement

Why Leave an Expensive POTS Line?

POTS is plain old telephone service: the copper phone line a commercial building still pays for, often the line that feeds the elevator phone. POTS is getting expensive and is slowly being transitioned out. ICTAlly installs the elevator phone when the building needs one, and provides cellular dial tone with a required 4-hour battery backup. Monitoring for the elevator phone is through a partnered monitoring service.

Savings stay qualitative. We do not print a dollar figure or a percentage. The quote comes after we walk your building. For the wider copper picture in Nashville, see our POTS line replacement guide. This page stays on the elevator phone and Area of Refuge dial tone.

What Changes

Area of Refuge

Need Dial Tone for an Area of Refuge Phone?

Typically, yes. Area of Refuge (AOR) dial tone is part of this page, not a separate service. ICTAlly provides the dial tone for an Area of Refuge phone. The fire alarm company monitors that phone.

ICTAlly does not monitor the Area of Refuge phone, and this service is not fire alarm work. Local code and AHJ requirements decide the details for a given building. We do not cite a code edition here, and we do not claim an elevator or Area of Refuge certification. Ask your AHJ what the building needs.

How It Works

How Does an Elevator Phone Project Run?

Four steps: walk the building, install the phone when it is needed, provide cellular dial tone with a required 4-hour battery backup, and monitor the elevator phone through a partnered monitoring service. The quote waits until we have seen the line.

STEP 01

Walk the Building

We look at the elevator phone, the POTS copper line it sits on, and any Area of Refuge phone that needs dial tone. The quote comes after that walkthrough.

STEP 02

Install the Elevator Phone

When the building needs the phone, we install it. Dial tone is cellular, with a required 4-hour battery backup.

STEP 03

Provide Dial Tone

We provide cellular dial tone so the elevator phone can leave the POTS copper line. When the building has an Area of Refuge phone, we typically provide dial tone for that phone. The fire alarm company monitors the Area of Refuge phone.

STEP 04

Provide Monitoring

Monitoring for the elevator phone is through a partnered monitoring service. Area of Refuge monitoring stays with the fire alarm company.

FAQ

Elevator Phone Questions

What does ICTAlly install for an elevator phone?
ICTAlly installs the elevator phone for commercial buildings that need one. Dial tone is cellular, with a required 4-hour battery backup. Monitoring for the elevator phone is through a partnered monitoring service. Building owners use the service as POTS copper lines get expensive and are slowly transitioned out. Office desk phones are a different project: see VoIP phone systems.
Can you get our building off a POTS line?
Yes. POTS means plain old telephone service, the copper phone line. Those lines are getting expensive and are slowly being transitioned out. Cellular dial tone and a partnered monitoring service take the place of that line for the elevator phone. We do not print a savings figure. The quote comes after we walk the building.
Do you provide dial tone for an Area of Refuge phone?
Typically, yes. Area of Refuge dial tone is part of this service. ICTAlly provides the dial tone. The fire alarm company monitors that phone. ICTAlly does not monitor the Area of Refuge phone, and this page is not fire alarm work. Local code and AHJ requirements decide what your building needs. We do not claim an elevator or Area of Refuge certification. Your AHJ has the last word.
Where do you install commercial elevator phones?
Middle Tennessee and South Central Kentucky, the company service area. That includes the Nashville metro and Bowling Green, Kentucky. See every city on our service areas page.
What commercial elevator phone work has ICTAlly done?
A spa elevator phone has dial tone from ICTAlly. A warehouse job is next: we are about to install the phone and provide monitoring through a partnered monitoring service. Area of Refuge phones typically get dial tone from ICTAlly, and the fire alarm company monitors that phone. We do not name clients.
Is elevator phone monitoring the same as network monitoring?
No. Elevator phone monitoring is through a partnered monitoring service. Network monitoring watches switches, firewalls, and Wi-Fi. Area of Refuge phones are separate again: ICTAlly typically provides dial tone, and the fire alarm company monitors that phone.
