The Challenge

Inheriting Another Contractor's Problems

The original contractor terminated the cables wrong — didn't follow 568B standard. When we tested, we found drops failing and the POS cutting out randomly. On top of that, they had a single ISP with no failover. Every time Comcast went down, the whole shop went dark — registers, Wi-Fi, everything.

We came in for cable repair, but once we dug in, we saw the real problem: no redundancy. We told them we needed to build in a backup connection or they'd keep losing business every time Comcast hiccupped.

They also had imported boba and coffee machines that needed specific electrical work. Instead of juggling a separate electrician, we coordinated it — called our licensed partners, got those machines wired to code, and had everything ready when the equipment showed up. One call, no runaround.

  • Re-terminated 6 data cables to TIA-568 standards
  • Coordinated electrician partners to wire imported boba/coffee machines to code
  • Built dual-WAN failover — Comcast primary, Cradlepoint 4G backup
  • Installed and configured Cradlepoint 4G as secondary WAN

Cabling Remediation

Six data cable terminations were redone to TIA-568 standards. The original contractor's work wasn't up to industry spec — causing intermittent network drops and unreliable POS connectivity. We also coordinated with licensed electricians to get equipment wiring up to code.

Dual-WAN Failover Network

Comcast is primary, Cradlepoint 4G is standby. If Comcast drops, traffic routes over the 4G automatically — sub-second handoff, no one has to touch anything. Since we set it up, they haven't lost internet once.

Ripped out the old consumer router and installed proper APs for full coverage across the shop. We also configured carrier offloading so phones roam to Wi-Fi automatically, taking pressure off the cell towers nearby.
